Technical Meetings of the Joint Commission

On August 31, 2014, representatives of the Joint Commission heads met at a technical level in Chaa Creek, Belize to continue to negotiate a series of bilateral agreements contemplated in the Plan of Action of the Road Map Agreement adopted by the Foreign Ministers of Belize and Guatemala on January 24, 2014. The purpose of these agreements is strengthen the ties of friendship and cooperation between the governments and peoples of Belize and Guatemala, as well as to create a climate of confidence conducive to the fixing of a date for holding the necessary referenda to lead to the International Court of Justice, in accordance with Article 1 of the Special Agreement.
