OAS Office in the Adjacency Zone

On April 20, during his first visit to the Organization of American States Office in the Belize-Guatemala Adjacency Zone, Secretary General Luis Almagro appointed Magdalena Talamas as his new Representative for Belize-Guatemala Affairs.

Ms. Talamas is responsible for facilitating the ongoing political-diplomatic negotiations between the governments of Belize and Guatemala directed at finding a peaceful and permanent solution to their longstanding differendum, as well as for overseeing the operations of the OAS Office in the Belize-Guatemala Adjacency Zone --the only OAS civilian peace-keeping mission in the field deployed to ease inter-state tensions.
