TECHNICAL SECRETARIAT OF OAS ANTICORRUPTION MECHANISM PARTICIPATES IN INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON INSTITUTIONAL COORDINATION IN CASES OF CORRUPTION

From July 7 to 10, in Antigua, Guatemala, the MESICIC Technical Secretariat participated in an international seminar on institutional coordination in cases of corruption, which was held during the II Annual Meeting of the EUROsociAL Program.

 At this seminar, which involved authorities from various countries and international organizations, the MESICIC Technical Secretariat described the review conducted by its Committee of Experts regarding institutional cooperation among government bodies that prevent, detect, investigate and punish acts of corruption, in particular with respect the 20 member States that up to this moment have been examined in the Fourth Round of Review. Mention was also made of the recommendations formulated to these countries to strengthen their institutional coordination mechanisms, which come as a result of a process that comprehensively reviews their legal and institutional framework on this topic, as well as results, and on information provided by government authorities, civil society, private sector and professional associations, researchers and academics during on-site visits to these countries.
