4.6 Criminal Justice System Process - ICCS Crimes Level 1
4.6.6.1 Persons held for: Acts leading to death or intending to cause death (ICCS 01)
Total number of persons held in Prisons, Penal Institutions or Correctional Institutions for “acts leading to death or intending to cause death”. “Persons held” means persons held on a specified day and should exclude non-criminal prisoners held for administrative purposes, for example, persons held pending investigation into their immigration status or foreign citizens without a legal right to stay. “Acts leading to death or intending to cause death” are those criminal offences defined in Section 01 of the International Classification of Crime for Statistical Purposes (ICCS), UNODC, Mar 2015, pp.33-36. They include: Intentional homicide (0101), Attempted Intentional homicide (0102), Non-intentional homicide (0103), Assisting or instigating suicide (0104); Euthanasia (0105), Ilegal feticide (0106), Unlawful killing associated with armed conflict (0107), Other acts leading to death or intending to cause death (0109), and subcategories of these, as listed on p. 23 of the ICCS.
