NOTE TO ALL APPLICANTS TO THE OAS/UNIVERSITY OF THE WEST INDIES SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

PLEASE READ BEFORE STARTING

The application must be completed in its entirety before exiting the site or submitting the form. The information you enter can be saved as you are working on it during this session. However, information cannot be saved for another session before the application is submitted. We strongly suggest that you print the blank application form (FORM AND LINK HERE), prepare the narrative information in a separate Word document which you can copy and paste into the on-line application form, and fill out the other data by hand on the application form before you begin to fill out the form on line. Once you access and open the form, it can remain open (without exiting or submitting it) indefinitely, so you will have time to fillout the form and check your information before submitting it. No changes will be permitted after you submit the form.

This application must be completed on-line.

Applicants are required to submit the following documents:

Unconditional Admission letter by University or Proof of application for admission, if admission status is known and/or application for admission has been made to the University at the time of this scholarship announcement;

Proof of application for admission to the UWI could be shown in the forms of the application confirmation number, application ID number or email confirmation forwarded by UWI which confirms that the application was successfully received. This proof of application for admission should be uploaded with the other required documents.

IMPORTANT: Although we encourage you to apply for the scholarship and submit the other required documents of the OAS-UWI Scholarship application before receiving your admission letter, you must submit a copy of the official admission letter or e-mail confirmation of admission by the scholarship application deadline to [email protected] and [email protected] with the subject “OAS/UWI scholarship application – admission letter”, before your application could be reviewed by the scholarship selection committee. You are not required to submit a second scholarship application to include the admission letter.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Applicants who have not yet applied to UWI, can still apply for the scholarship, stating clearly that they have not yet applied for admission to UWI. They will be informed in mid June, 2013 to submit their application for admission to UWI, only if their application has been shortlisted for review by the Scholarship Selection Committee .

Copy of government issued identification document;

Curriculum Vitae or Resume, without attachments;

Copy of undergraduate academic records or transcripts of completed courses;

Two letters of recommendation; one from a university professor and another from current or most recent employer;

Two essays in English as indicated in the OAS-University of the West Indies Scholarship Application Form;

Proof of English proficiency: Students whose native language is not English will be required to submit proof of English proficiency as follows:

An official transcript verifying completion of studies in an English speaking university in the last five years or

A test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a score of 550 or higher for the paper based test, 215 for computer-based test or 90 for internet-based test; IELTS 5.5, or the equivalent.

Each eligible applicant has to submit proof of remaining funds needed. Applicants without the required proof of funds will not be considered.
