Los temas a discusión en este portal ya han sido analizados por múltiples actores. En este repositorio la SG/OEA reúne algunos de ellos, como una contribución más a la discusión. Este repositorio tiene dos secciones: En la de Políticas integraremos información sobre políticas relevantes a los temas a debate que estén siendo implementadas por los Estados Miembros, Estados Observadores y otros Estados del mundo. En la de Estudios incluiremos análisis, informes y reportes publicados por instituciones académicas, centros de pensamiento, organizaciones internacionales y multilaterales, organizaciones no gubernamentales y entes privados, todos ellos de reconocido prestigio, que sean relevantes para la conversación. La OEA publicará estos artículos e informes en su idioma original.

In keeping with measures being taken around the world to slow the spread of the coronavirus, the OECD has taken the decision to postpone OECD Week 2020 – made up of its annual Ministerial Council Meeting (MCM) and public OECD Forum – from late May to a date to be agreed in due course.

OEA y Facebook lanzan iniciativa para ofrecer herramientas de resiliencia a las MIPYMES

La Organización de los Estados Americanos (OEA) y Facebook lanzaron el 6 de mayo una asociación para apoyar a las Micro, Pequeñas y Medianas Empresas (MIPYME) de la región a través de sesiones de capacitación en línea y mesas redondas de políticas. El programa ayudará a las MIPYME a enfrentar los desafíos que enfrentan como resultado de la pandemia de COVID-19, ya que muchas de ellas se vieron obligadas a cerrar temporalmente debido a la débil demanda de los consumidores, la caída del tráfico peatonal y la interacción social.

Tras declarar el Estado de Emergencia, el Presidente de la República, Iván Duque Márquez, anunció, el 18 de marzo de 2020, un paquete de medidas económicas y sociales para enfrentar la pandemia del coronavirus (COVID-19) en Colombia, el cual se ha venido revisando, actualizando y ampliando desde entonces.

The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic poses a host of global health, economic, and security challenges, to include the continued challenge of combating transnational organized crime. While some believe this pandemic will disrupt and have a negative impact on the global operations of transnational organized criminal groups, the morbid reality is that these groups view the crisis as a lucrative opportunity. For the foreseeable future, we can expect organized criminal groups to quickly adapt in order to exploit the pandemic via various illicit schemes. In Italy, mafia groups are already demonstrating that they are intent on benefiting from the crime-related opportunities that the COVID-19 pandemic will present.

If we look at the reaction of the Principality of Liechtenstein to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are two sides: Internally, the focus was on limiting the spread of the disease while mitigating its negative impact on the economy and ensuring that the national measures are in line with international obligations. Externally, Liechtenstein has demonstrated solidarity through contributions to the UN Global Humanitarian Response plan while also advocating international cooperation by initiating – together with five other States – a COVID-19 resolution that was passed by the UN General Assembly with the active support of 188 States.

Italy: Decree from Italy Initiating Phase 2 to Combat and Contain the new Coronavirus

On April 26 2020, the Prime Minister of Italy signed a Decree (text in Italian) that initiates the Phase 2 of Government actions to combat and contain the coronavirus. The new Decree goes into effect on May 4, and envisages a gradual easing of restrictions and restart of activities, including the reopening of schools in September.

European Union - Coronavirus: EU Global Response to Fight the Pandemic

The EU's collective action will focus on addressing the immediate health crisis and resulting humanitarian needs, strengthening partner countries' health, water and sanitation systems and their research and preparedness capacities to deal with the pandemic, as well as mitigating the socioeconomic impact. On March 20, 2020, Pope Francis asked the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development (DPIHD) to establish a Commission consisting of five working groups with the objectives of: supporting local Churches, enabling them within their own local circumstances to be active agents of assistance in cooperation with Caritas Internationalis; focusing on the study of the pandemic, reflecting on society and a post-Covid-19 world, particularly in areas such as the environment, economy, employment, health, policy, communication and security; supporting the Holy See in its activities and in its relations with Countries and International Organizations, conveying to them the results of the research, dialogue and reflection undertaken; and funding its activities in the areas of research, analysis and communication.
