Program to support law enforcement, port authorities, customs, and other agencies to investigate, detect, and interdict drug trafficking in the maritime, riverine, and port domains.
Objectives
  • Strengthen the capacity of maritime authorities from OAS member states to investigate, detect, and intercept drug trafficking in the maritime, riverine, and port domains; 
  • Foster information exchange and inter-agency cooperation in maritime interdiction efforts in the region; 
  • Promote information exchange and the implementation of best practices for the control of maritime and riverine drug trafficking in OAS member states, based on recommendations of CICAD’s Group of Experts on Maritime Narcotrafficking; and
  • Develop handbooks, guidelines, protocols, and best practices that serve as reference tools for relevant agencies working in the field. 
Activities
  • Operational and legal regional conferences to enhance the cooperation and coordination in counterdrug interdiction procedures and operations in the region;
  • Analyze new trends on drug trafficking in the maritime, riverine, and port domains, such as routes and drug concealment methods; and
  • Regional and national courses for strengthening member states’ capacities on risk analysis, and container and passenger profiling.
