IGUALDROGAS promotes and supports member states in formulating and implementing drug policies that consider sex and gender differences. These differences are reflected in drug consumption and engagement in illegal drug-related activities, effects and consequences, and access to and successful outcomes of treatment and rehabilitation programs.

Objectives

Establish and strengthen the institutional capacity of national drug authorities and other key institutions in order to effectively coordinate the formulation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of drug policies, at both the national and local levels. ES-CICAD provides technical support, training, and development of tools and models for multisectoral coordination.

Activities

• Develop and deliver training content to strengthen knowledge and skills in the development of gender-sensitive drug policies, programs, and interventions.

• Draft recommendations for the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of gender-sensitive drug policies.

• Provide technical assistance to personnel responsible for drug policies to ensure that gender perspectives are included in policies. To achieve this, virtual and/or face-to-face technical meetings, sessions, and webinars will be organized.

• Promote horizontal cooperation between member states and Spain to facilitate study visits and exchanges of experiences in Spain, for professionals from the Americas.
