The Cybersecurity Policy Development Program of the OAS/CICTE Cybersecurity Section aims to assist Member States in the formulation, update, and implementation of national cybersecurity strategies, legal / regulatory frameworks, and multi-stakeholder governance mechanisms. The program promotes a risk-based, multistakeholder approach aligned with international standards.
To date, the program has driven inclusive and participatory processes involving public, private, technical, academic, and civil society stakeholders. It provides structured methodologies, technical assistance, and diagnostic tools that allow cybersecurity policies to be tailored to each country's local context, while strengthening institutional capacities and promoting international cooperation.
The Program allows for a co-creating process with relevant stakeholders and a validation process which ensures a comprehensive review of existing related national policies and the development of the core outputs of the strategy. The program also assists in the review and assessment of already implemented strategies with a view of integrating lessons learnt into future processes, while promoting a building block approach and sustainability to the outputs achieved in any previous iteration.
