PREVENTION OF VIOLENCE THROUGH MUSIC

The Department of Public Security of the Secretariat of Multidimensional Security of the Organization of American States together with GLobal Leaders, McGill University, and with the support of the Government of Canada will launch next Tuesday (4)  the Music in Action Journal.

The event is aimed to state members and observer countries of the OAS, members of the sectors of culture, education, social development and public security. The journal, an initiative by the Inter-American Network for the Prevention of Violence and Crime, is comprised of eight case studies on how the teaching of music contributes to promote life skills - an important protection factor to the prevention of youth violence. Foreword is signed by the Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro and by the tenor Placido Domingo. The event is Organized by the Department of Public Security, with the support of the Mission of Canada to the OAS and partners.

MÚSICA PARA LA PREVENCIÓN DE LA VIOLENCIA

El Departamento de Seguridad Pública de la Secretaria de Seguridad Multidimensional de la Organización de los Estados Americanos, junto con Global Leaders, la universidad de McGill y el apoyo financiero del Gobierno de Canadá lanzará en el próximo martes (4) la revista especializada Music in Action.

El evento está dirigido a Estados Miembros y observadores de la OEA, y a los sectores de cultura, educación, desarrollo social y seguridad pública. La revista, una iniciativa de la Red Inter-Americana de Prevención de la Violencia y el Delito, contiene ocho estudios de caso de iniciativas de enseñanza de música con el fin de promover habilidades para la vida, factor de protección para la prevención de la violencia juvenil. El prefacio está firmado por el Secretario General de la OEA, Luis Almagro, y por el tenor Plácido Domingo. Organizado por el Departamento de Seguridad Pública, con el apoyo de la Misión de Canadá ante la OEA y otros socios.
