Towards Scalable Defenses against Intimate Partner Infiltrations

Intimate Partner Infiltration (IPI)--a type of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) that typically requires physical access to a victim's device, often manifests through digital surveillance, control, and monitoring. Unlike conventional cyberattacks, IPI perpetrators leverage close proximity and personal knowledge to circumvent standard protections, underscoring the need for targeted interventions. This paper, published by a group of scholars from three universities across the US, propose an Automated IPI Detection system that continuously monitors for unauthorized access and suspicious behaviors on smartphones. The paper's findings suggest that AID can serve as a forensic tool within security clinics, scaling their ability to identify IPI tactics and deliver personalized, far-reaching support to survivors.

Social and Emotional Skills for Better Lives

This article presents results from the OECD’s Survey on Social and Emotional Skills (SSES) 2023. SSES is the largest international effort to collect data on these skills among 10- and 15-year-old students. The results show that students’ social and emotional skills – or 21st century skills – are linked to better life outcomes, including academic success, greater life satisfaction, healthier behaviours, less test and class anxiety, and more ambitious career plans. The Survey also finds that these skills are inequitably distributed among students by age, gender, and socio-economic background.

Documenting cases of violence against women and girls and recording the health sector response

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) launched this toolkit, developed in collaboration with multiple countries, experts and the support of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation. The kit, available in English and Spanish, includes key messages for health policymakers and managers interested in strengthening health administrative data on violence. Countries will be able to draw on a regional template for capturing data on intimate partner violence/sexual violence and care given to survivors, equipping health workers with practical tools to enhance the quality and consistency of the health system response.
