Ecuador has made significant progress in strengthening public security, with a focus on reducing homicides and criminal violence. This commitment has been supported by various efforts, including the present project, which aims to strengthen the capacity of the judicial system. Its main purposes are:

  • To ensure a more efficient response to security threats
  • To increase efficiency in the investigation and prosecution of crimes
  • To increase efficiency in the control of violence. These actions not only contribute to improving public safety, but also reinforce public confidence in Ecuador's justice system.

The project includes an improvement in judicial infrastructure, the acquisition of updated equipment and technology, and the implementation of training programs for justice operators. These efforts are aimed at guaranteeing that the judicial system can respond effectively to the population's demands for security, ensuring a fairer, faster, and more reliable administration of justice that contributes substantially to the security and well-being of Ecuadorian society. 

Objectives

To provide comprehensive training to judges and prosecutors so that they are better prepared in investigation, prosecution and punishment crimes;

  • To provide judges and prosecutors of standard and specialized equipment and technology that will enable them to carry out their activities more quickly and effectively.
  • To improve the existing infrastructure, including the courtrooms of the National Court of Justice, to make them more functional, secure and count with updated technology. 

Activities
  • Design, production, and delivery of a specialized study program intended for judges and prosecutors that will provide them with tools and knowledge tailored to evolving crime dynamics.
  • Procurement and installation of technology and equipment to:
  • Judges in high-crime areas, specialized units
  • Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Transnational and International Organized Crime (FEDOTI)
  • National Specialized Unit for Investigation against Transnational Organized Crime (UNIDOT)
  • Statistics Department of the Attorney General's Office, and forensic units.
  • Enhancement of existing infrastructure. Renovation of courtrooms at the National Court of Justice. This will strengthen security for justice operators and all participants in judicial proceedings, thereby safeguarding their rights.
