The Department of Social Inclusion (DSI) supports the efforts of Member States in formulating strategies to combat inequality. Besides, DSI promotes social inclusion through initiatives focused on breaking structural barriers in access to opportunities, the design of public policies that generate social inclusion and the implementation of projects to improve the living conditions of groups in situations of vulnerability. This Department is under the Secretariat for Strengthening Democracy.
One of its objectives is to generate capacity in national agencies with responsibilities in matters of inclusion and social development, migration and forced displacement and access to rights of groups in situations of vulnerability. On the other hand, it supports the design, validation and implementation of public policies that generate prosperity with equity and promotes political dialogue to build consensus, define hemispheric priorities and exchange experiences.
The DIS implements its work from a gender and human rights perspective.
