CICTE’s Terrorism Prevention Section aims to strengthen Member States’ capacities to prevent and counter terrorism in all its forms by addressing the risks and vulnerabilities of the region, promoting the effective implementation of regional and international legal instruments, and strengthening the exchange of information and multilateral and regional cooperation mechanisms, in order to enhance the hemisphere's security.
This Section is part of the Executive Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee against Terrorism.
The Terrorism Prevention Section’s efforts are focused on the following thematic areas:
- Prevention of Violent Extremism that can be conducive to Terrorism.
- Legislative Assistance, Counter Terrorism Financing and Counter Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction Financing.
- Cooperation and operational information sharing.
- Nexus between Transnational Organized Crime and Terrorism.
