Through the promotion of water diplomacy, innovation, financing, and governance at the multinational level, the OAS supports sustainable water management across the Americas.
The Water Section of the Department of Sustainable Development (DSD), under the Executive Secretariat for Integral Development (SEDI), works to strengthen the capacity of Member States to implement effective Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) strategies and improve water governance in the region.
Through technical cooperation and knowledge exchange, the OAS supports the development of capacities, services, and institutions responsible for designing and implementing policies, regulatory frameworks, and programs aimed at protecting and conserving critical water resources, including freshwater and marine ecosystems.
These efforts help ensure equitable access to water, strengthen climate resilience, and promote the long-term sustainability of water resources in the Americas.
