Statute

The Statute of the OAS Administrative Tribunal was adopted on July 16, 1971 by the Permanent Council of the Organization, through Resolution CP/RES. 48 (I-O/71). It sets forth the general principles and sources of law that define the Tribunal’s function as well as general regulations relating to its composition, jurisdiction, sessions, admissibility requirements, and setting compensation limits, among other issues.

The Statute of the Tribunal can only be amended by the General Assembly of the Organization. Since it was established, this legal framework has been amended the following five times: 1975, 1979, 1995, 1997, and 2012, through Resolutions CP/RES. 142 (158/75), AG/RES. 414 (IX-O/79), AG/RES. 1318 (XXV-O/95), AG/RES.1526 (XXVII-O/97), and AG/RES. 2700 (XLII-O/12), respectively.
