Exhaustion of Administrative Proceedings

Pursuant to Article VI of the Statute of the Administrative Tribunal, the person concerned may file a complaint only if he or she has exhausted the procedures provided in the General Standards or in other existing provisions and if the Secretary General has made the corresponding final decision. Generally, the administrative procedures to be followed prior to recourse to the Tribunal’s jurisdiction are set forth in Chapter XII of the Staff Rules of the General Secretariat (Hearing and Reconsideration).

On an exceptional basis, the interested party and the Secretary General may agree that the case should be submitted to the Tribunal when prior administrative procedures have not been exhausted.
