The Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee against Terrorism of the Organization of American States (OAS), in collaboration with the Government of Mexico, invites you to join us for a virtual dialogue on the “The use of Internet in the spread of violent extremism: challenges and best practices”.

On May 2018, OAS Member States approved the Declaration “Strengthening hemispheric efforts to address and counter violent extremism that is conducive to terrorism”.

The virtual dialogue is expected to address:

  • How has violent extremism evolved in a digital society?
  • What trends can we expect in light of the COVID-19 pandemic?
  • What specific actions can be taken to prevent and counteract it?
  • What are the challenges that the public and private sector face in preventing and addressing the use of the internet in the spread of violent extremism?
  • What programs, initiatives or good practices exist to tackle the spread of extremist content online?

This event is free-of-charge. The event is open to the general public after registration on the platform link provided.
