Border management and the flow of goods have been significantly impacted globally by the COVID-19 pandemic. Governments, international organizations, the private sector and other stakeholders had to innovate with new biosecurity protocols and standards, with an eye to lessen the impact on the competitiveness and security of customs processes and cross-border trade.
This Webinar will provide a dialogue space for multilateral and regional organizations to present and discuss trends in security and control of cross-border commercial cargo and the role played by initiatives such as the Authorized Economic Operator Program to reduce the impact of the pandemic on the economies and security of the OAS member states.
The panelists’ contributions will allow the audience to better understand the efforts necessary to facilitate trade and the flow of goods in times of pandemic, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation and coordination in order to mitigate the risks of contagiousness while promoting greater safety and efficiency throughout the supply chain.
The following institutions will participate in this webinar: Secretariat for Multidimensional Security of the Organization of American States (OAS-SMS), the World Trade Organization (WTO), the General Secretariat of the Andean Community (CAN) and the Secretariat of Central American Economic Integration (SIECA)
