Each year, the region is struck by a number of natural disasters, including earthquakes and hurricanes, among other natural hazards. These events tend to be devastating in terms of loss of human lives, destruction of homes and infrastructure, disruption of communications and provision of both water and electricity. For this reason, this second virtual discussion will focus on understanding what the region is doing to mitigate risks, as well as to respond and manage an emergency resulting from the impact of a natural disaster event while at the same time trying to contain the spread of coronavirus. It is particularly interested in exploring what steps and actions are being taken (or should be taken) by Emergency and Security Systems so that they may face a scenario of multiple crises.
