The seventh Meeting of Authorities took place on February 5 and 6, 2024 in person in Washington DC, under the chairmanship of the Government of the United States.

During the event the following topics were discussed:

• The use of technology to recruit and exploit victims and to prevent human trafficking.
  
• The impacts of environmental changes on vulnerability to trafficking in persons
• Money laundering as a vector of human trafficking 
• Links between trafficking in persons and other forms of transnational organized crime

During the event, Member States shared their progress in the prevention, investigation, and prosecution of trafficking in persons, as well as assistance and protection for victims and survivors. In addition, they discussed their implementation strategy for the Third Work Plan on Trafficking in Persons for the period 2024-2026.

Goals:

• Facilitate cooperation among Member States to address new challenges and trends in the crime of trafficking in persons at the regional and subregional levels
• Promote and provide a space for dialogue and information exchange among Member States on their efforts to respond to trafficking in persons in a post-pandemic context 
• Discuss the implementation of the Third Work Plan on Trafficking in Persons
• Approve document of recommendations against Human Trafficking

The role of Technical Secretariat for the Meetings of National Authorities on Trafficking in Persons is performed jointly by the OAS Department against Transnational Crime (DTOC) and the OAS Department of Public Security (DPS).
