The objective of the Plenary is to present the methodology and purpose of the products to be developed in accordance with the Work Plan approved and the recommendations agreed upon at the 57th GELAVEX meeting, held in hybrid format from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, in November 2024. The following progress reports will be presented:
Sub-Working Group on International Cooperation and Asset Forfeiture:
- Study on the strategies and challenges faced by authorities in attempting to trace, seize, and recover virtual assets used in money laundering; and the development of red flags and good practices for preventing ML involving virtual assets.
- Study on the misuse of legal entities by criminal organizations for money laundering and the importance of timely identification of beneficial owners in the context of international cooperation.
Sub-Working Group on Financial Intelligence Units and Criminal Investigation Agencies:
- Study to measure the effectiveness of financial intelligence reports, determining how effective the development or execution of parallel financial investigations is and identifying whether there are predicate offenses for money laundering that are not currently being considered.
The Pro Tempore Presidency of GELAVEX is held by Panama, and the Vice Presidency by Argentina.
