The Executive Secretariat of the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (ES-CICAD) supported the Colombian Chair of the Group of Experts on Comprehensive and Sustainable Alternative Development (GEDAIS, by its Spanish acronym) in organizing the first Interactive Forum on Alternative Development, an initiative designed to advance dialogue on territorial transformation in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The Forum brought together 63 experts and strategic partners from across the hemisphere, representing 17 member states of the Organization of American States. Through an open and participatory format, it fostered horizontal cooperation on issues such as territorial governance, community resilience with a gender perspective, and institutional architecture.
The event featured presentations and successful cases from officials of the National Commission for Development and Life without Drugs (DEVIDA, by its Spanish acronym), Peru; the Medicinal Cannabis Authority, St. Vincent and the Grenadines; the GESPLAN Group - Researchers for Sustainable Development from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Spain; and the National Secretariat for Drug Policies and Asset Management (SENAD), Brazil.
