From March 5 to 7, CSIRTAmericas will host the initiative "Raising Cyber Maturity in the Americas" in Mexico City, a key event to strengthen the maturity of the Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRTs) in the OAS Member States, with the financial support of the Government of the United Kingdom.
The program will include three main activities:
- Launch of the CSIRTAmericas Baseline, a resource developed under the internationally recognized Security Incident Management Maturity Model (SIM3) created by the Open CSIRT Foundation (OCF). This baseline provides a structured framework for CSIRTs, regardless of their nature (public or private), size or sector, to assess and improve their cybersecurity readiness.
- Discussion with members of the CSIRTAmericas Network, a space for exchange where experiences will be shared and international cooperation in cybersecurity will be promoted.
- Maturity assessment of CERT-MX, of the Mexican National Guard, applying the SIM3 model to analyze its level of development and capabilities.
More than 70 experts will participate in the event, including representatives from CSIRT-Aeronáutico (Colombia), CERT-PY (Paraguay), the Canadian Center for Cyber Security, Mattica, the National Polytechnic Institute, Scitum (Telmex), CISAN-UNAM, SANS, the Alianza México Ciberseguro and AMCID. In addition, approximately 50 participants from various Mexican institutions are expected to attend, such as the National Guard, ministries, financial organizations, academic institutions and leading companies such as Cisco, Dell and Oracle.
This event represents a key opportunity to strengthen regional collaboration, share knowledge and boost the level of preparedness of CSIRTs in the Americas.
