Train the Trainers on Open Educational Resources (OER) and Innovative Practices - OAS-OER Hub for the Americas

The Executive Secretariat for Integral Development (SEDI) of the OAS, through the Department of Human Development, Education and Employment (DHDEE) offers training for educational leaders on Open Educational Resources (OER) and Practices to develop projects that will impact their communities.

Participants will build skills around collaborating to curate, remix, and publish OER, as well as showcase best practices, exemplar resources, tools, and templates to guide their project development. This engaging training is designed to include both hands-on activities and work time to create and share resources; and facilitate interactive discussions, peer review, and implementation planning.

Training Structure:

This training will follow the “Train the Trainers” model, and its intended audience is officials in charge of teaching training programs in the Ministries of Education, preferably with experience in OER.

Participants are required to attend the three 90-minute webinars and complete approximately five hours of practice activities. Participants will be eligible for a Certificate of Completion upon fulfillment of all requirements.

  • Session 1: February 12, 2025, from 2.00pm to 3.30pm EST time

o Introduction to Open Educational Resources and Practices - Exploration leadership and advocacy goals and best practices for advancing OER with work time to practice identifying, evaluating, curating, and sharing OER.

  • Session 2: February 19, 2025, from 2.00pm to 3.30pm EST time

o Collaboration & Curation - Develop OER project plans, utilizing templates, resources, and tools in OAS’s OER Hub.

  • Session 3: February 26, 2025, from 2.00pm to 3.30pm EST time

o Peer Review & Implementation Planning - Review and refine implementation plans and design for impact.

*Participants will be officials designated by the Ministries of Education. Sessions will be held separately in English and Spanish on different dates.


About the Hub

The OAS-OER Hub for the Americas is a space to collaborate, evaluate, share, develop and promote the free and open use of educational resources (OER) that will be available for the whole educational community in the Americas. OAS-SEDI will launch this Hub under the framework of the Program Democratic Principles Strengthened through Education and Policy Dialogue (DEMEP) of the Inter-American Committee on Education (CIE). 

The goal of the OAS-OER Hub for the Americas is to make education more accessible and equitable by reducing costs and allowing educators to adapt materials to fit their specific teaching needs and contexts.
