Technical Cooperation Rounds among Peers
From December 9 to 13, 2024, Guatemala received the visit of a group of international experts from Chile, Costa Rica and Paraguay, and representatives of the Technical Secretariat of the Inter-American Social Protection Network, RIPSO, who participated in the Technical Cooperation Round in support of the process of updating the National Disability Policy of this country. The General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS), through its Department of Social Inclusion (DIS), as Technical Secretariat of the RIPSO and in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development (MIDES) of Guatemala, facilitated this Technical Cooperation Round that represents a significant step towards improving the quality of life of people with disabilities and reducing accessibility and inclusion gaps in the country.
This initiative is part of the project to reactivate the Inter-American Social Protection Network (RIPSO), thanks to the financial support of the Government of the United States of America (USOAS). Through these cooperation rounds, the IASPN seeks to promote the exchange of experiences and good practices for the improvement of social policies in the countries of the region.
The Round was facilitated by the IASPN Technical Secretariat with the support of the Department for Effective Public Management of the OAS, as Technical Secretariat of the Inter-American Cooperation Mechanism for Effective Public Management (MECIGEP) and the Technical Secretariat of the Committee for the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities (CEDDIS, OAS).
This joint effort is a testament to the potential of cooperation, solidarity and regional commitment to build a more inclusive and accessible future for all people.
