Representatives from the Andean Committee Against Illegal Mining (CAMI) and the Andean Mercury Observatory of the Andean Community of Nations (CAN) will meet to discuss actions against the illicit trafficking of mercury and the progress of implementing the Minamata Convention in CAN member countries. This forum will also serve to strengthen CAMI as a subregional space for dialogue and the exchange of experiences, methodologies, and best practices to improve control systems for both illegal mining and mercury use in the subregion. Additionally, it will initiate the development of upcoming analysis activities of the Andean Observatory on Mercury.
