As is the case in all General Assemblies, there will be a dialogue between representatives of civil society organizations and other actors with Heads of Delegation, the Secretary General and Assistant Secretary General within the framework of the 54th OAS General Assembly.
Resolution CP/RES. 759 (1217/99) "Guidelines for the Participation of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in the OAS" defines CSOs as "any national or international institution, organization or entity composed of natural or juridical persons of a non-governmental nature". There are three mechanisms for CSO participation in OAS meetings. One is to attend meetings of the General Assembly, the Permanent Council, the Inter-American Council for Integral Development (CIDI), or other specialized conferences of the OAS, upon request and registration.
