The Organization of American States (OAS), through the Inter-American Council for Integral Development (CIDI) and its Inter-American Committee on Culture (CIC), will convene the Tenth Inter-American Meeting of Ministers of Culture and Highest Appropriate Authorities under the theme “Advancing Culture and the Creative Economy for Prosperity in the Americas.”
This Ministerial Meeting will bring together Ministers of Culture and senior officials from OAS Member States to discuss strategies to strengthen the role of culture and the creative economy as drivers of prosperity and development in the Americas.
Delegations will examine key areas such as:
- Formalizing the culture sector and empowering the creative economy;
- Conserving, safeguarding, and promoting cultural heritage;
- Enhancing cultural data for evidence-based policymaking; and
- Strengthening cultural diplomacy and cooperation.
Expected Outcomes
- Improved regional dialogue and cooperation on culture and development in the Americas.
- Agreements to support the adoption of policies that promote culture and the creative economy as growing contributors to GDP, employment, income, and prosperity in the Americas.
- Adoption of the Draft Declaration and Plan of Action of the Tenth Inter-American Meeting of Ministers of Culture and Highest Appropriate Authorities setting the policy and cooperation framework for the next ministerial cycle (2026–2028).
As part of the proceedings, participants will:
- Elect the new officers of the Inter-American Committee on Culture (CIC);
- Establish the CIC Working Groups for 2026–2028; and
- Receive offers to host the Eleventh Inter-American Meeting of Ministers of Culture.
The Meeting is organized by the Executive Secretariat for Integral Development (SEDI), which serves as Technical Secretariat of the CIDI Ministerial Process for Culture.
