The Program aims to promote the rights of indigenous peoples. It has the responsibility to ensure compliance with the 2022—2026 Action Plan for the Implementation of the American Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (ADRIP). It coordinates the creation of the Working Group for the Implementation of ADRIP. 

Objectives
  • Strengthen the capacities of OAS Member States on the rights of indigenous peoples. 
  • Strengthen coordination and collaboration between regional and international organizations, cooperation agencies, academia, civil society and other social actors with the aim of promoting indigenous people's rights. 
  • Expand and promote cooperation, the exchange of experiences and good practices to strengthen government institutions that develop public policies for indigenous peoples. 
  • Disseminate and implement the Action Plan for the Implementation of the ADRIP and the Convention Against Racism, Racial Discrimination, and Related Forms of Intolerance. 
Activities
  • Co-organization of the Inter-American Meetings on the Implementation of the ADRIP. 
  • Organization of virtual, hybrid and in-person events to advance the inclusion and full development of Indigenous peoples.
