The Technical Secretariat of the Committee for the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities (CEDDIS) has the role of providing the support required to fulfill the functions of the Committee. It is located within the Department of Social Inclusion (DIS) of the Secretariat of Access to Rights and Equity (SARE) of the General Secretariat of the Organization.



Objectives
  • Strengthen the capacities of CEDDIS members to achieve their mandate, promoting, based on said support, the full social inclusion of people with disabilities in all aspects of life.
  • Support CEDDIS in the preparation of all its activities, documents, dissemination of its reports, and central coordination point.
Activities
  • Prepare work schedules for the consideration of the Committee Authorities.
  • Prepare the draft agenda and treatment methodology for each Committee meeting.
  • Distribute the notices of the Committee meetings, as well as any relevant documents.
  • Provide secretariat services to the Committee and the working groups that may be created, including in the preparation of the reports prepared by the Committee in accordance with the fifth paragraph of Article VI of the Convention.
  • Safeguard all documents and files of the Committee.
  • Disseminate public documents related to the Committee, as well as the reports of the States Parties and the report referred to in the third and fifth paragraphs of Article VI of the Convention, once these are public for the knowledge of persons with disabilities. disability.
  • Serve as a central point of coordination and contact for the sending and exchange of documents and communications between the representatives of the States Parties to the Committee, through their respective Permanent Missions, the OAS bodies and other organizations or institutions.
  • Prepare reports of Committee meetings and keep their files.
  • Advise the members of the Committee in the performance of their duties when required.
  • Promote and organize technical cooperation programs, in coordination with other international organizations and cooperation agencies, to support the States Parties in their efforts to comply with the recommendations made by the Committee.
