The Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP) aims to promote an effective and ongoing policy dialogue among national port authorities at the highest level of the OAS Member States in support of the development of a competitive, safe, sustainable and inclusive port sector in the Americas, with emphasis of capacity building and the active participation of the private sector.

To achieve this objective, the CIP holds two types of meetings:

  • Regular CIP Meetings

The regular meetings of the Committee, held every two years, bring together the highest national port authorities of the OAS Member States (ministers, vice ministers, secretaries, undersecretaries, presidents of national port authorities, among others), with a view to electing authorities of the CIP Executive Committee (CECIP) and approving a new resolution, as well as a two-year Plan of Action, and corresponding budget.

  • CECIP Meetings

Meetings of the Executive Committee of the CIP (CECIP) are held yearly. They bring together CECIP’s Chair and two Vicechairs, as well as the Chairs and Vicechairs of the six Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs) of the CECIP, to follow up on the Plan of Action, make adjustments if necessary, as well as to approve activity reports and draft budgets.
