The Inter-American Committees are subsidiary organs of CIDI. Their purpose is to ensure continuity in sectoral dialogue on partnership for development, follow up on mandates issued at the ministerial level, and identify multilateral cooperation initiatives. The nature, purpose, structure, and functioning of each committee are defined in their respective Rules of Procedure.
Each of the following seven committees are composed of sectoral authorities at the policy-making and technical levels, accredited by the government of each member state.
1. Education: Inter-American Committee on Education (CIE)
2. Culture: Inter-American Committee on Culture (CIC)
3. Science and Technology: Inter-American Committee of Science and Technology (COMCyT)
4. Social Development: Inter-American Committee on Social Development (CIDES)
5. Sustainable Development: Inter-American Committee on Sustainable Development (CIDS)
6. Tourism: Inter-American Committee on Tourism (CITUR)
7. Ports: Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP)
In addition, the labor and cooperation sectoral processes have unique subsidiary bodies:
8. Labor: Working Groups of the Inter-American Conference of Ministers of Labor (IACML)
9. Cooperation: Management Board of the Inter-American Agency for Cooperation and Development (IACD)
