The HUB program seeks to expand regional networks and collaboration between strategic partners in R&D+i, business management, and technology transfer and commercialization to support the economic diversification of the region through the incorporation of technologies in supply chains.

For every edition, the program brings together more than 40 professionals and entrepreneurs, selected through a competitive process, who receive fast track training of one to two weeks, accompanied by mentors, experts and leaders from different regional Centers of Excellence in innovation and entrepreneurship.

Training topics include: intellectual property; technology valuation; market identification; client acquisition, modalities for the generation and expansion of companies; construction of vibrant innovation ecosystems; seed funding; crowd sourcing; elevator pitch, as well as strategies to establish fruitful connections with universities, research centers and other actors in the public and private sectors.

The knowledge, examples and practical exercises shared during the HUB® are based on real technologies that seek to solve existing problems in the communities of the Americas.

Objectives
  • Increase the knowledge and capacity of innovation managers, entrepreneurs, research centers and tech. based start-ups and SMEs support institutions to foster a strong and dynamic regional innovation ecosystem;
  • Accelerate high-impact technologies “from idea to market” to help solve real-problems in communities of the Americas;
  • Generate innovation driven businesses, technology commercialization, and deploy scientific and technological solutions to address economic and social imperatives in OAS member states;
  • Foster a strong network of HUB alumni, experts and professionals interested in strengthening technology transfer in the region.

Activities
  • Advanced 2-weeks training program to transfer scientific and technological solutions “from idea to market”
  • Mentoring sessions with regional experts
  • Hands-on exercises and multi-disciplinary teamwork to accelerate technologies and prepare strong “elevator pitch”
  • Sites-visits to local innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems
  • Access to online tools and resources from strategic partners
  • Active networking and partnerships, exchange of good practices and experiences, and signing on cooperation agreements
  • In June 2021, the OAS launched two (2) virtual platforms to provide follow-up and additional mentoring the alumni community of the HUB program and other entrepreneurs, academics and professionals of the region. The first platform, called “COMUNITT”, was developed in collaboration with the University of California at Riverside to provide mentorship for experts affiliated with the University – the second platform, called “COMCYT Central” features mentors specific to the HUB Program from all across the Americas.
