The OAS contributes to the strengthening of democracy and the consolidation of the rule of law, ensuring the principles adopted in the Charter of the Organization of American States and the Inter-American Democratic Charter, contributing to:

The improvement of public management by promoting best practices, exchange of experiences and horizontal cooperation among Member States and promoting the equal participation of citizens in democratic management.
The consolidation of processes and the modernization and strengthening of electoral institutions in the Hemisphere, respecting the principle of non-intervention and full respect for sovereignty.
The strengthening of a democratic culture and respect for the rule of law, as well as justice policies.
