Certificate Program on Electoral Processes in the Americas
The Organization of American States (OAS), in conjunction with FLACSO-Chile, and the Federal Electoral Institute of the United Mexican States created the Certificate Program on Electoral Processes in the Americas with the objective of deepening the academic preparation of the staff of electoral authorities in the hemisphere.The first edition of the Advanced Course comprises three components: one virtual, one in-person and one ex-post. During the virtual component, participants, all of whom received scholarships by the OAS, will be exposed to such topics as electoral systems, electoral organisms, political financing, electoral registries and political-electoral participation.
The face-to-face component involves a week of full-day meetings in which participants will study the topics addressed by the virtual component in greater depth with the support of experts and tutors. The week will involve keynote speakers, a simulation exercise and the definition of an ex post project. The in person component will takes place at FLACSO-Chile headquarters in Santiago Chile from October 24-28th. Key note speeches will cover three issues that are fundamental electoral management bodies in the region: political and electoral participation in Latin America, political financing and electoral registries.
