The 2023 meeting of CICAD’s Group of Experts on Chemical Substances and Pharmaceutical Products will take place in Quito, Ecuador, May 23-25, 2023, under the Chair of Ecuador, and the Vice-Chair of Brazil.
The meetings of the Group of Experts provide a forum at the hemispheric level that brings together representatives from institutions responsible for the control of precursor chemicals that could be used in the illicit manufacture of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and chemical substances.
The meetings of the Group facilitate the exchange of up-to-date information, knowledge, best practices, and experiences on the topic. In addition, they foster the strengthening of interagency collaboration among the different national, regional, and international stakeholders.
Inputs from the Group allow the identification of emerging and persistent threats and foster collaborative work strategies based on best practices. Likewise, the Group develops reference tools and materials to support member states in strengthening their national regulatory frameworks based on international and/or regional agreements.
