Second Preparatory Meeting of the XIX Inter-American Conference of Ministers of Labor (IACML)

The objective of the Second Preparatory Meeting was to negotiate the Draft Declaration and Plan of Action of the XIX IACML, consider the Final Reports of the Working Groups and other preparatory business for the IACML, to be held on December 3rd and 4th in Cancun, Mexico.

Representatives of the Ministries of Labor of the OAS Member States, workers' and employers' representatives through COSATE and CEATAL and representatives of the international organizations participated in the meeting.

The discussions focused on the main themes of the next conference: Education and Labor, Equity and Labor Inclusion, Labor Migration and Hemispheric Cooperation for the Strengthening of Ministries of Labor.

In preparation for the meeting, the Technical Secretariat opened a Virtual Forum from August 18th to September 23rd where the Ministries of Labor and consultative bodies of the Conference made comments to the Draft Declaration and Plan of Action of Cancun.

As agreed during the Preparatory Meeting, the Technical Secretariat opened the Virtual Forum again so that participants of the meeting may continue the negotiation of certain issues raised in the Draft Declaration of Cancun. The forum will remain open until November 20th.
