Meeting of the Coordinating Committee of the Social Network for Latin America and the Caribbean to prepare the Work Plan 2008-2009

The  Ministry of Social Development and Combat against Hunger of Brazil, in exercise of the Presidency of the Social Network, called for a meeting of the Coordinating Committee of the Social Network, to be held at the OAS Headquarters in Washington D.C. on October 23.

Representatives from Brazil, Chile, Honduras, Mexico, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Surinam will be present in order to prepare The Work Plan 2008-2009 of the Social Network. This plan will take into consideration the commitments adopted by the member countries of the Social Network at its XIV Annual Conference held in Belo Horizonte, Brazil on 2007

The Commitments of Belo Horizonte, whose principal theme was the eradication of the poverty in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprises concrete lines of action, such as project promotion and horizontal technical cooperation to exchange technologies and knowledge with the objective of strengthening the human resources of the involved institutions.

The following officers have confirmed their participation: Ms. Rosilene Rocha, Vice Minister and Mr. Diogo Henrique Franklin de Carvalho, Internacional Advisor of the Ministry of Social Development and Combat against the Hunger of Brazil, Mr. Pablo Coloma Correa, Executive Director of the Fund of Solidarity and Social Investment of Chile, Mr. César Salgado Sauceda, the Minister Director of the Honduran Fund of Social Investment, Ms. Blanca Lilia García, Director of Coordination and International Relations of the Secretariat of Social Development of Mexico, Ms. Rosita Alexander-Snagg, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of National Mobilisation, Social Development, Youth and Sports of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Mrs. Clarisse Pawironadi-Dasi, Permanent Secretary, Social Ministry of Afairs and Housing of Suriname.

Mr. Francisco Pilotti, Director of the Department of Social Development and Employment (DDSE) of the OAS, together with the personnel of the DDSE will officiate as Technical Secretary giving  the necessary support to the participants.
