OAS Announces Scholarship Recipients for Master’s Studies in Brazil
November 18, 2011
The Organization of American States (OAS) and the Coimbra Group of Brazilian Universities (GCUB), with the support of the Education Division of the Ministry of External Relations of Brazil, today announced the selection of 53 scholarship recipients for the 2011 OAS – GCUB Scholarship program for Master’s studies in Brazil.
The Director of the OAS Department of Human Development, Education and Culture, Maria Levens noted that “The selection process for this scholarship program was one of the most competitive of any program we have seen in recent years. Its popularity is clear evidence of the growing demand for opportunities to pursue advanced degrees abroad.”
Rossana Valéria de Souza e Silva, Excecutive Secretary of the Coimbra Group of Brazilian Universities, said that “Next year we hope to expand this program to offer the opportunity to study in leading Brazilian universities to even more students.”
The scholarships, to be granted as part of the OAS Partnerships Program for Education and Training (PAEC), will allow selected students and professionals to study in participating Brazilian universities for a period of up to two years, at which point they will return to their countries to apply what they have learned.
