  November 9, 2011

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, welcomed the agreement signed by the governments of Bolivia and the United States that creates a framework for establishing the basis for bilateral relations and represents a step towards reinstating ambassadors in La Paz and Washington.

“It is good news that the two countries have signed an agreement that seeks to, among its principal objectives, strengthen and develop bilateral relations,” he said.

To the OAS Secretary General, the signing of this agreement represents the will of the two governments to work together on bilateral issues of common interest and also of hemispheric interest.

The head of the OAS remarked that dialogue through diplomatic and cooperation channels is the only road towards solving differences and strengthening relations between countries.
