Peru Communicates Its Consent to Receive On -Site Visits of the OAS Anticorruption Mechanism

Peru, through its Permanent Mission to the OAS, formally notified its consent to receive on-site visits, as part of the Mechanism for Follow-Up on the Implementation of the Inter-American Convention against Corruption (MESICIC). These visits will commence in 2012 as part of the review process for the Fourth Round.
The Technical Secretariat received this consent in accordance with the Methodology for Conducting On-site Visits Visits adopted by the Committee of Experts to the Mechanism in March 2011. This Methodology not only regulates the manner in which States are to provide their consent, but also contains other provisions for achieving its aims.
Peru joins 18 other countries that have formally expressed their consent to these visits, including: Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Saint Kitts and Nevis, United States and Uruguay.
The Technical Secretariat of the MESICIC expects to receive similar notifications from other States, which have reported that they are taking the necessary stops domestically to formalize their consent.
