Business Council of Latin America Awards Recognition to Assistant Secretary General of the OAS

  November 3, 2014

The Business Council of Latin America (CEAL, for its initials in Spanish), recognized the Assistant Secretary General of the OAS, Albert Ramdin, for promoting public-private dialogue in the Americas as an essential vehicle for responding to the changing social and economic challenges in the region.

From Madrid, where the XXV plenary Assembly of CEAL took place, Samuel Urrutia, outgoing Chair of CEAL reiterated to Assistant Secretary General Ramdin the commitment of the group’s directors to the development agenda of the Americas, and confirmed that the collaboration would continue on the path to the Summit of the Americas of Panama 2015 with the incoming Chair, Ingo Ploger.

Assistant Secretary General Ramdin expressed his gratitude for the honor and highlighted the importance of the OAS as a platform for dialogue between the private sector and the representatives of the member states.

Ramdin, who has played an active role in the promotion of greater participation by the private sector in the OAS agenda, highlighted that public-private dialogue is necessary to reach greater levels of growth, development and opportunities for all, to create an environment more conducive to job creation and to fully realize the benefits of democracy.

OAS and CEAL signed a cooperation agreement in April 2012 to support the fulfillment of the challenges that emerge from the Summits of the Americas.
