OAS Co-organizes Competition for Young Journalists and Reporters about the Present and Future of Relations between Governments and Citizens

The Organization of American States (OAS) invites young journalists and communicators in the region to participate in the "YoGobierno" initiative, which involves submitting articles that reflect on the present and the future of relations between governments and citizens, the role of public administration in the era of social networking and new trends in participation.
The contest, called "Award for the best story about Government 2.0" (Link in Spanish), is organized by the OAS, through its Department for Effective Public Management, together the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the governments of Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica and Uruguay.
The call is aimed at journalists or communicators between 18 and 35 years old who can take part by preparing stories that reflect on the present and the future of the new relationship between governments and citizens, the role of public administration in the age of social networks and new trends in participation.
The selection of ten finalists and three winners will be conducted by a jury (Link in Spanish) made up of government leaders, international organizations and media members. The finalists will receive a scholarship for the online course "Government in the Age of Social Networking" of the OAS Virtual Campus (Link in Spanish). From the finalists three winners will be selected to be awarded a six nights stay in Washington, DC, to present their story at the headquarters of the OAS, as well as an electronic tablet, courtesy of the government of Uruguay.
