Inter-American Teacher Education Network launched by OAS in Guayaquil, Ecuador

  November 10, 2010

The Inter-American Teacher Education Network (ITEN) was launched today during a meeting of the Inter-American Committee on Education (CIE) in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

ITEN offers to educational leaders in the 34 member countries of the Organization of American States a professional network to share knowledge, experiences, research and good practice in the field of teacher education. Based on a strategy of horizontal cooperation, ITEN provides a space for discussion to all teacher education stakeholders in the region. With membership open to all who are interested in the topic, members of the ITEN community can engage in professional discussions in blogs and forums, upload and download videos, photos, articles, among other things.

Policymakers, researchers, preservice teachers, in-service teachers and special interest groups within each respective category can interact with their peers. They can find out about innovations in the field, employment opportunities, and opportunities for online learning.

ITEN is an initiative of the Department of Human Development, Education and Culture (DHDEC) of the Organization of American States (OAS). The program is carried out with the financial support of the Government of Canada through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and also draws on financial support from the Inter-American Committee of Education of the OAS.
