OAS Assistant Secretary General meets with Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister and Government Officials

Assistant Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS) Ambassador Albert Ramdin paid a courtesy call on the new government of Trinidad and Tobago, officially meeting with Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar, Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Suruj Rambachan, Finance Minister Winston Dookeran, and Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley.

The OAS ASG was apprised of the new government’s foreign policy objectives and interests, as well as its goal of achieving more meaningful participation in hemispheric issues.

Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley meanwhile, raised the issue of campaign finance reform with the OAS official, expressing an interest in participating in more dialogue on the issue.

The Assistant Secretary General of the OAS has welcomed the interest of Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar in visiting Washington DC, and addressing the Permanent Council of the OAS in the near future.
