Secretary General Insulza Congratulates New Literature Nobel

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today expressed great pleasure at the awarding of the Nobel Prize in Literature to the Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa.

Insulza said “the Nobel Prize to Vargas Llosa is a new source of pride to our continent’s literature and to all Peruvians and Latin Americans.”

“Finally, justice has been served to one of the greatest authors in our region,” the Secretary General of the hemispheric organization added.

In his letter of congratulation to the Peruvian writer, Insulza wrote that “the achievement of obtaining such an important prize underscores greatly the value of the Spanish language and represents an exemplary recognition of the contribution of such a distinguished Latin American citizen to universal culture.”
