SECRETARY GENERAL REFERS TO CENSURE MOTION AGAINST PRIME MINISTER OF HAITI

  October 30, 2009

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, referred recently to the decision of the Haitian Senate to deliver a non-confidence vote to ouster Prime Minister, Michele Pierre-Louis.

In this sense, the Secretary General stated that “an international organization should not make pronouncements about the sovereign decisions of a member state, when those decisions are adopted according to the law.”

The Secretary General also expressed his appreciation to the Prime Minister and her governing team for the work done in benefiting the Haitian people.
