OAS Secretary General Condemns the Murder of 14 Police Officers in Colombia

  September 3, 2010

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, strongly condemned the murder of 14 police officers in an ambush by the FARC in the city of Doncello, Department of Caquetá, and he sent his condolences to the Government and people of Colombia and to the families of the victims of this attack.

The Secretary General regretted that “while the Government of President Juan Manuel Santos is committed to creating an environment conducive to the search for peaceful solutions to the conflict, criminal attacks such as that which took place in Doncello go in the opposite direction to this goal, a goal that is fundamental to achieve peace in Colombia.”
