OAS Assistant Secretary General meets with SICA Secretary General

The Assistant Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Albert Ramdin, in a meeting with Juan Daniel Aleman, Secretary General of the Integration System of Central American (SICA), emphasized the importance of enhanced cooperation between the Secretariats of the OAS and the Central American sub-regional body.

Among other issues, both elected officials discussed the importance of collaboration on issues such as crime and violence, inter-organizational cooperation and support. Both officials committed to maintaining an open line of communication.

OAS has launched an initiative to help El Salvador build capacity in designing projects aimed at generating funding and advancing development. In their discussion of this activity, the SICA Secretary General expressed support for the initiative and the willingness of the SICA Secretariat to assist in furthering this pilot project in other countries of the region.
